It’s Not Goodbye, It’s See You Later: Angela Yee’s Last Day On The Breakfast Club

Angela Yee has been an integral part of the syndicated morning radio show, The Breakfast Club, for about 13 years.  But, the first week of December 2022 marks the beloved host’s last week as one-third of the dynamic trio, consisting of DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God, and an end to a remarkable era.

Charlamagne, who proclaims he believed in The Breakfast Club from the beginning, had some encouraging last remarks for Yee.

“Job well done,” the founder of the Black Effect Podcast Network began.  “They can never take away what we built. We’ve all made history together as a radio show and we’re in the radio hall of fame.  We are linked together forever.  Us three have created a blueprint for a lot of people to follow and I just thank God for bringing us together.”

Dj Envy, the cutesy Virgo dad among the group, had his own way of showing his appreciation for his co-worker.

“I’m going to miss my sister.  I’m not going to miss you taking stabs at me…Who’s going to protect me?” Envy joked.  “I just remember the first days up here of me eating Sour Patch Kids and Pepsi as my breakfast and us changing the diet — and I just want to say we love you.”

Angela Yee’s segments were a huge part of TBC’s format. She would deliver “Front Page News” and the “Rumor Report,” contribute to “Get It Off Your Chest” and (wo)manhandle “Ask Angela Yee.”  Sometimes, Yee, known as the reliable one, would hold down the fort when Uncle Charla would arrive late or DJ Envy would go on a family vacation.

Affectionately called Angela “Lee” as an ongoing running gag among fans, the serial entrepreneur announced her departure from TBC in August after a tweet of hers went viral. Her radio ventures are not ending, however, as she will be embarking on running her own show as solo host of afternoon radio show Way Up with Angela Yee.  Indeed, we will be tuning in. So, this is not a goodbye, it’s a see you later.
