That Time When Pimp C Gave Us Some Wisdom

Pimp C is an undisputed legend in the South. Half of rap duo UGK, the late Port Arthur rapper known as Sweet James Jones, or Tony Snow depending on when you catch him, still has a presence in the rap game to this day.

One of the best (and sometimes craziest) things about Pimp C was his candid conversations. Never known to be filtered or censored, Pimp C said what he wanted when he wanted to. Keep in mind, this was before things got extra politically correct.

One of the architects of the southern trill sound, Pimp C left us many valuable lessons before he passed away in 2007. Below is a list of some of Pimp C’S greatest gems:

We Can Accomplish More If We Unite

“They know that if we get to communicating and putting our heads together and comparing notes that we’re going to figure out some sh*t really fast.”

That’s OK, We’ll Create Our Own

“After a m*therf*cker tell you something for so long and let you know they don’t want you, after a while n*gg* don’t want to be down with [you] no more.”

Be Yourself, Be Real, Live Out Loud

This is self-explanatory.

Don’t Stop

“We just stay true to it even when everybody was doing some different things. Just stay true to what you do.”

Indeed, Pimp C talked like a pimp. If you can filter through the vulgarity, you will find that he really had a keen understanding of life. It was very simple to him.

If someone tries to shut you out, create your own lane. Unity and collaboration was another key lesson that he left behind for students of hip-hop. He also didn’t believe in cap rap and deceptive living. His overall message was to be yourself.

Lastly, never stop doing you. Even when the trends and fads say differently. The best gift one can offer to the world is your own uniqueness. RIP Pimp C
