Will Smith And Martin Lawrence Look Better Than Ever As Fugitives In Official Trailer For ‘Bad Boys: Ride Or Die’

With all the crazy news circulating, we can all use some lighthearted humor right about now. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence run to the rescue in their latest trailer for the upcoming Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Not only are they saving us with laughter, but the detective buddies have a new mission to vindicate the tarnished reputation of their former Miami Police boss, Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano).

The feat won’t be easy. Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) must achieve all this while Marcus deals with a new life filled with a growing family and health issues, and Lowrey, well, he’s still up to his same shenanigans.

The Bad Boys franchise has maintained quite a solid following since the release of Bad Boys in 1995. Michael Bay directed the script written by Michael Barrie, Jim Mulholland, and Doug Richardson. The action film had a domestic open of $15.5M over the April 7th weekend, going on to make $141.4M worldwide.

The sequel, Bad Boys II, debuted in theaters eight years later in 2003. Bay, Pantoliano, and Theresa Randle rejoined Smith and Lawrence, along with new addition Gabrielle Union, for the second installment. Needless to say, the film did a little better than its predecessor with a $46.5M opening and an impressive $273.3M global box office.

Even with that success, the third film in the franchise would take years — about 17 years to be exact. In 2020, Bad Boys for Life surpassed the other two films, opening at $62.5M and making a whopping $426.5M worldwide, pretty decent for a film released on the cusp of a global pandemic. The pic invited new talent Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Nicky Jam, Charles Melton, DJ Khaled, and Bianca Bethune.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah co-directed Bad Boys for Life, and return to direct Bad Boys: Ride or Die, penned by co-writers Chris Bremner and George Gallo. Although the first official trailer didn’t reveal much of the other cast, it appears Hudgens and Ludwig will be returning, while Tasha Smith and Tiffany Haddish are fresh to the franchise.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which originally was going to be released June 14, will be premiering in theaters a week earlier on June 7, 2024. See you there!
