Whew! Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson Joins Forces With Kenya Barris For New Series ‘The 50th Law’

In a dynamite pairing, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Kenya Barris are teaming up for the new tantalizing series The 50th Law. Hale Rothstein, a business associate of Barris who has worked with him on the Netflix series blackAF, presented the project to the Black-ish creator.

The new series is based on the book authored by Jackson and Robert Greene, the bestselling writer of The 48 Laws of Power. Divulging Jackson’s theory to fear nothing, The 50th Law utilizes lessons from Jackson’s life that can easily be applied to business, entrepreneurship and wealth accumulation.

Greene, Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television, and Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society will executive produce, while Lionsgate TV will produce. Rothstein and Barris will pen the script for the pilot.

It will be interesting to see how the series plays out. There’s certainly a demographic of viewers who are aching for this type of content. Wu-Tang Clan member RZA and Alex Tse found success through the development of the Hulu Original Wu-Tang: An American Saga, a hip hop based series that explores the formation of the infamous rap group using life and industry lessons. There’s also the late John Singleton’s FX series Snowfall, another biographical importation of enforcing street law to accumulate wealth and power.

Apparently, the genre of edgy street capitalism is Jackson’s niche. His upcoming producer’s slate is filled with exciting projects that include a television series for Black Mafia Family, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, and evolution of the Power universe with Power Book IV: Force, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Influence.

With that said, it’s more than satisfying to see two powerhouse forces come together to disrupt the status quo. Let the games continue!
