Taylour Paige Stars Alongside Diane Keaton In Magical Comedy ‘Mack & Rita’

Fans of movies like Tom Hanks’ Big, Lindsay Lohan’s Freaky Friday, or Issa Rae’s Little, are going to enjoy another addition to the body-switching comedies.

Writers Madeline Walter and Paul Welsh bring audiences the twisted story of a 30-year old writer named Mack (Elizabeth Lail), who is magically transformed into her inner being, a 70-year old woman, after a wild weekend with friends in Palm Springs. The comedy stars Diane Keaton as Rita, the mature version of Mack, and the lovely Taylour Paige as her bestie, Carla.

In the official trailer, Rita (Keaton) is put through the ringer as she takes on the life of her younger version while suited in her mature body. Unfortunately for Rita, that involves being a social media influencer, practicing yoga, and engaging with young men. A wholesome celebration of women from young adulthood to maturity, Mack & Rita makes for a worthy comedy that can be viewed by all ages.

Other cast includes Loretta Devine, Dustin Milligan, Aimee Carrero, Addie Weyrich, Simon Rex, Martin Short, Nicole Byer, and Amy Hill. Katie Aselton (Black Rock) directs the Gravitas Premiere film.

While the story and stellar cast are all the more reasons to tune in to Mack & Rita, the casting of Ms. Taylour Paige makes one convincing proposition. For many of her fans, the first full-on exposure to the prim and pretty actress was on the VH1 original series, Hit the Floor, where she played the sizzling Devil Girl dancer, Ahsha Hayes.

From there, the Debbie Allen-trained dancer and actress went on to be featured in some amazing film projects that told real stories, such as the controversial White Boy Rick (2018), a very era-appropriate Zola (2020), the Oscar-winning Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020), and the Asian-led basketball drama Boogie (2021).

In addition to Mack & Rita, Paige is set to be in the 2023 film The Trainer, co-starring alongside Bella Thorne, Gina Gershon, Julia Fox, Paris Hilton, and Lenny Kravitz, and the highly-anticipated bodybuilding drama, Magazine Dreams, led by Jonathan Majors. Paige is keen on picking the most compelling screenplays and it’s making for a formidable acting career and a promising future — a future we hope shows more of Paige on the big screen.

Mack & Rita will be in theaters on Aug. 12.
