Phoebe Robinson’s ‘Everything’s Trash’ And Arden Cho’s ‘Partner Track’ Miss Out On Second Season Renewals

Fresh into their premiere seasons, the highly-anticipated half-hour television series, Partner Track and Everything’s Trash, will not proceed with follow-up seasons on their primary distributor platforms. Netflix canceled Partner Track, starring Arden Cho, citing low viewership tracking upon its August 26 release.

Although the series landed in the top 10 of Netflix programs, the series didn’t make the cut on the streamer. That’s not to say that Partner Track doesn’t have potential elsewhere, as the world of legal dramas is in need of more diversity. Nonetheless, the premature canceling of a show with much promise is disappointing to invested viewers.

Another eyebrow raise comes from the cancellation of Phoebe Robinson’s Everything’s Trash. Starring Robinson, Jordan Carlos, and Toccarra Cash, Everything’s Trash premiered July 13 with the episode “Choosing Between Peen & Politics Is Trash,” where Phoebe, a podcaster, is challenged to grow into her adulthood with the launching of her brother’s political campaign. Freeform ordered the 10-episode series only to cancel it shortly after its first-season finale. The reason is also attributed to low ratings.

Both Partner Track and Everything’s Trash may have benefited from more targeted marketing given that they appeal to the millennial demographic in professional phases of their lives. With that said, the more concerning question is where do these viewers prefer to access their conventional entertainment?

Television watching is becoming more of a task with the widespread availability of streamers to choose from and often, viewers trade that burden in for quick, affordable, and easily accessible entertainment on social media. Maybe that’s the key takeaway.
