Nicki Minaj Partners With HBO Max For Docuseries On Her Life

Nicki Minaj is ready to open up about her personal life.  The “Win Again” rapper has partnered with HBO Max to release a docuseries following her personal life and professional endeavors.

Unreleased footage of her journey is documented throughout six half hour episodes.  Michael John Warren, director of infamous hip hop documentary Fade To Black following Jay Z, will direct the untitled Minaj docuseries.

“It’s going to give you guys a raw unfiltered look at my personal life and my professional journey and I can’t wait to share it with you,” Minaj said.

Minaj has overcome a lot throughout her journey to stardom.  Once considered a rap darling. The industry seemed to turn its back on her as rumors spread that she was “difficult” to work with, a disparaging label used against women to limit their opportunities.  She also had the added burden of her record label being under scrutiny as Cash Money CEO Brian “Birdman” Williams publicly clashed with the label’s golden child, rapper Lil Wayne.

Then, there were unfounded allegations of her having a diva attitude regarding other women and not having a public opinion about her brother’s  issues.  Whether these challenges will be covered in the docuseries has yet to be determined.

“I love that this series not only provides an all-access glimpse at one of the most iconic musicians of our generation; it also profiles the brave woman behind the artist, Onika,” said Warren.  “I believe all of us can learn a great deal from her remarkable professional and personal life. It’s an honor to be entrusted with this dynamic story.”

Warren will be executive producing, alongside Aaron L. Gilbert, BRON Life’s Brenda Gilbert and Cassandra Butcher, and Creative Wealth’s Irving Azoff and Tommy Bruce.

“Nicki Minaj is one of the most important and influential recording artists of all time; never to be duplicated – and many have tried,” said the Gilberts.  “We are proud to support this living icon, as she bravely opens her home to the world.”

Minaj’s announcement comes on the 10th year anniversary of the release of her triple platinum-selling debut album Pink Friday.
