‘Not Another Church Movie’ Spoofs Tyler Perry’s Filmography In Star-Studded Parody Feature

It was bound to happen! The parody universe can now add a spoof of heavenly heights to its library. Johnny Mack (Wild ‘N Out) and James Michael Cummings (City on a Hill) co-direct the star-studded comedy feature, Not Another Church Movie.

The Monty the Dog Production candidly tackles the catalog of the iconic Tyler Perry as it references his hits, The Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Why Did I Get Married, Meet the Browns, and Madea Goes To Jail. Hopefully, Perry has a great sense of humor about this, knowing the impact of his work on the film industry.

Mack penned the screenplay with a zany synopsis, “Hoprah Windfall, fretting as her ratings plummet because her talk show and audience need some new blood, calls on God and demands His help. God and his angels decide there’s no better choice to replace her with than the hardest working man in the world, Taylor Pherry. But when the Devil overhears this, he comes up with a fiendish plan of his own to disrupt the whole ordeal.”

The synopsis continues, “While Taylor prepares for one of his many jobs that mostly entail helping his dysfunctional but lovable family through their trials and tribulations, God appears and orders him to help Hoprah accomplish her mission, by writing a movie. By looking at the crazy women in his life he finds the very substance of the storylines for his screenplay!

Surprisingly, some of Hollywood’s most elite and reputable actors are starring in the film. Jamie Foxx (Ray), Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler), Jasmine Guy (A Different World), Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill), Tisha Campbell (Empire), Kevin Daniels (The Big Leap), Kyla Pratt (Call Me Kat), and Lamorne Morris (New Girl), are all featured in the parody. The experienced cast takes viewers on an eyebrow-raising adventure, one edified by an intriguing version of Tyler Perry’s lovable protagonist Madea.

The trailer is even wilder.
