John Boyega Stars Alongside Nicole Beharie And The Late Michael K. Williams In Veteran True Story ‘Breaking’ [Trailer]

In between his legendary role as Finn in the Star Wars saga, John Boyega has always made it a point to star in dramatic roles that serve a message about humanity and history.

One of his most memorable was in Imperial Dreams where he plays a young, devoted father recently released from prison and raising his son in Watts. He also starred in the drama Detroit, a true story about the 1967 Detroit riots in which he plays a cop. His next riveting role comes in the form of a Marine veteran by the name of Brian Brown-Easley.

Bleecker Street presents Breaking, a true story based on the hostage takeover of a bank by Brown-Easley following denial of financial support and disability from Veteran Affairs. Clearly not a man prone to violence, Brown-Easley is driven to his breaking point as he faces off with the police.

Abi Damaris Corbin directs one of the last feature film projects starring the late award-winning actor Michael K. Williams, who plays Sergeant Eli Bernard, the negotiator that directly speaks to Brown-Easley. Corbin cowrites with writer and actor Kwame Kwei-Armah.

Other cast includes Nicole Beharie (Little Fires Everywhere), Selenis Leyva (Creed III), Connie Britton (The White Lotus), Jeffrey Donovan (Law & Order), and Elise Neal (A Black Lady Sketch Show).
