Steve McQueen’s ‘Small Axe,’ Starring John Boyega And Letitia Wright, Teases With New Trailer

Systemic racism is a topic that can get really deep, really fast and has taken place not only here in America, but all across the world. Set between the 1960’s and 1980’s, Small Axe is based on the life experiences of London’s West Indian community.

The series stars John Boyega (Star Wars, Detroit) set to play Leroy Logan, Letitia Wright (Black Panther, Black Mirror) in the role of Altheia Jones-LeCointe, Malachi Kirby (Roots, Black Mirror) as Darcus Howe, Shaun Parkes (The Mummy Returns) set to play Frank Crichlow, among many other talents.

The five-part TV mini series is directed by Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, Widows), who is also executive producer, alongside Tracey Scoffield, David Tanner, and Lucy Richer.

Mangrove, the first episode of the series, is written by Steve McQueen and Alastair Siddons. The episode will debut on November 20. The other four episodes will air every Friday on Amazon Prime in the following order; Lover’s Rock, Education, Alex Wheatle, and Red, White, and Blue.

Three episodes, Mangrove, Lover’s Rock, and Red, White and Blue, will open the 58th New York Film Festival on September 25 and all those with access will get a good sample of the series.
