Jhene Aiko Channels Her Inner Goddess To Table Slam Heartbreak On Album ‘Chilombo’

The beautiful voice of Jhene Aiko is back with her third album Chilombo. Aiko always has a way to reveal her soul on her songs, but Chilombo is an even deeper declaration of unbearable pain and it all seems to resign from a broken heart.

Apparently, for this particular album, Aiko found temporary residency in Hawaii as she hammered away at the 20-track album.

While nearly every song on the album hits in an introspective way, “None of Your Concern” featuring Big Sean is an insightful dive into the dynamics of the couple.

Many of the songs are about moving on from terrible relationships, such as “Triggered (freestyle)” where Aiko threatens her ex to keep it moving if he knows what’s best for him.

“B.S.” featuring H.E.R. and “Pray for You” are other examples of how Aiko has no time for the “fugazy”. Aiko is able to pleasantly tell those who broke her heart to f*ck off.

Aiko presents a grown woman maturity and simultaneously keeps it real about her emotions.

Features on Chilombo include Future and Miguel on Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E.), Ab-Soul on “One Way St.”, Dr. Chill on “Surrender”, Nas on “10k Hours”, John Legend on “Lightning & Thunder”, and Ty Dolla $ign on “Party for Me”.

For what it’s worth, this Def Jam project is definitely worth a listen and a drive in the car to a very zen place like the beach or ….heaven.
