Jack Harlow Pops On The Hollywood Scene With Woody Harrelson Role In “White Men Can’t Jump” Remake

Jack Harlow is elevating his game by entering the acting arena. The 23-year-old rapper will star in the remake of the 1990s Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson classic White Men Can’t Jump.

Originally penned and directed by Ron Shelton, the story centers around two street ballers that join forces to win money via a basketball tournament. The film released in 1992 and included a star-studded cast featuring Rosie Perez, Tyra Ferrell, Kadeem Hardison, and Duane Martin.

By the way, Shelton had a knack for comedic buddy flicks. Not only did he write White Men Can’t Jump, he also wrote The Great White Hype with Damon Wayans playing opposite Peter Berg, and Bad Boys II, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

The release of the original pic opened in 1,929 theaters to a box office of $14.7 million. Only opening domestically, the Twentieth Century Fox film made a total gross of $76.3 million.

In the remake, Harlow will be playing Harrelson’s character, Billy Hoyle. Rumor has it that the “Nail Tech” artist landed the role on his first attempt. The remake will be directed by Calmatic, a top-tier music video director that worked on Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Pharrell Williams and Jay-Z’s “Entrepreneur.” The script is adapted by co-writers Kenya Barris and Doug Hall.

Now, the question is who will fill the roles for Snipes and Perez? Trevante Rhodes, Damson Idris, Daniel Ezra, Luke James or even D.C. Young Fly? And while a fiesty Ariana DeBose, polarizing Cardi B, confident Saweetie, or seductive Camila Cabello might be suitable for the Perez role, admittedly, it’s going to be tough to find someone as magnifying as the originals.
