Review: Tyler Perry’s ‘A Fall from Grace’ Is A Scary, Cautionary PSA To Leave Men Alone

The MouthSoap: TV, Film & Foolishness RATING 8/10

Man of the year Tyler Perry made his Netflix debut with the new thriller A Fall from Grace on Jan. 17.

News of the movie spread through word of mouth as diehard fans couldn’t wait to see The Haves and the Have Nots actress Crystal Fox, who plays the role of Grace, make her first appearance as lead actress in a film.

Directed, written and starring Tyler Perry, A Fall from Grace is about a vulnerable woman who is trying to recover from divorce when she bounces back with a new young romance that ends in a murder, trial and unexpected twists and turns.

The acting is superb with a cast that includes Phylicia Rashad (Creed II), Bresha Webb (Night School), Cicely Tyson (How To Get Away With Murder), Walter Fauntleroy (The Oval) and Matthew Law (The Paynes).

Rated for Mature Audiences, A Fall from Grace rates 6 out of 10 on IMDb.com and 8 out of 10 on The MouthSoap: TV, Film & Foolishness.

While there are many twists and turns in the film that absolutely cannot be revealed without spoiling the movie, one thing for sure is that the film is all about red flags and bad energy.

Grace takes us on a full throttle, emotional journey of the ultimate betrayal in marriage. The story itself is one that will leave you fully engaged and unable to move your eyes from your smart device. Yet, the ending leaves you with the impression that the plot is straight out of a Crime TV story.

Some critiques about the film? Some of the wigs and makeup were a bit distracting, but that becomes a distant memory after the actors bring the characters to life.

Some highlights of the film? The great thing about Tyler Perry is that his moves always have the intention to help or serve others.

For instance, Perry makes it his mission to provide a spotlight on actors who normally do not have the opportunity or platform in Hollywood.

He also tells stories that give women a powerful voice and warns them of the dangers of unsavory men.

A Fall from Grace is definitely that two hour PSA that some women need just in case they don’t have anyone to tell them that not everyone is a person of integrity, not everyone can be trusted.

Definitely a must-see if you are a fan of Tyler Perry or love Lifetime movies.
