End Of The World As We Know It? Gun Shop Lines, Car Crashes And Runners Holding Up The Middle Finger

It all started with a woman needing help with her dead car battery. Except for the occasional trip to the grocery store, the MouthSoap team has been staying in our homes in an effort to avoid the coronavirus.

But, when we got the call that someone needed help, we had to do the inevitable and brace what looked like the first signs of a disheveling society.

We reached our destination in Burbank, jumped the battery, and everything was fine. But, on our way back to our comfy safe havens, we couldn’t believe the frantic state of some people as we drove along Magnolia Blvd., a main street in Burbank.

Three gun shops along the normally busy street had long lines of people waiting to get inside to stock up. One gun shop, Guns Direct, had the longest line of them all.

In the frenzy of the spread of COVID-19, people are a little more antsy and on edge. This couldn’t be more exemplified when a twist of irony created a scene that was made for the movies.

As people stood in the gun shop line, a Tesla ran head-first into the back of a parked SUV right in front of Guns Direct.

Just as people from neighboring stores started to come out to see all the commotion, a very fit runner passing by the gun shop from the other side of the street stuck his hand in the air and gave everyone in the line “the finger”, and we’re not talking about the ring finger.

He seemed to be disturbed by the number of people feeding into the coronavirus angst and supporting more guns among civilians.

If you didn’t believe it before, it’s getting serious out here. With state officials calling for lockdowns and celebrities endorsing social distancing, it’s impossible to not notice how rapidly society is changing.

Stores are now letting elderly people shop early and restaurants are only accepting delivery or pickup orders. Matters are made even worse when people are competing for daily necessities, such as tissue and water, and frankly some people are not on their best behavior.

We can only hope that some good will come out of this adversity that we all face together. In fact, if we look on the brighter side, more families are spending time together and people are getting the rest they need with the temporary suspension of some workplaces.

Hopefully, the days will get better and brighter. But, just in case we’re in for a longer haul than we envisioned, please try to be kind to others.
