The always distinguishable talent we know as the incomparable Brandy Norwood has done it again, delivering her signature sound in her latest music effort with the album B7.
One of the last real R&B singers left in a time where rap seems to be the new R&B, Brandy doesn’t fail us with her single “Borderline,” an emotional piece about the insecurity of a relationship almost driving her crazy.
She sings, “I’m on the bordeline | don’t want to be schizo this time | never ever cheat, never lie | I’m the most jealous girl in the whole wide world | don’t you ever hurt me I’ll change on you | I’m so dangerous, baby.”
Brandy doesn’t pull any punches, telling a universal story that many people could relate to. In the music video, Brandy portrays a woman who has lost her grip on life because of a relationship.
It starts off with the brazen beauty being thrown in an insane asylum of sorts. Scenes cut in and out of her singing at a lounge dressed in an angelic, flowing white gown. It’s not difficult for Brandy to effortlessly bring emotion to the scenes as her eyes and overall physical portrayal reminds us of her incredible acting chops.
At the end of the visual, there is a message about mental health, depression, anxiety and PTSD with a number to a helpline.
The music visual is directed by the infamous Atlanta photographer Derek Blanks, with legendary choreographer and visionary Frank Gatson leading the creative direction.
