Baby Tate Gives Fans Snippet Of Upcoming Single, While Asking The Age-Old Question “What’s Love”

Music artist Baby Tate gave fans a sneak peak of an upcoming song she plans on releasing this year called “What’s Love.” In a snippet she posted on TikTok under her handle @ImBabyTate and later her YouTube channel, the newly siren-redhead singer and rapper shared an exclusive minute of the endearing heartbreak song.

She sings, “You just want to use me, abuse me, and chew me up like your favorite drug / Now I know, this ain’t love / So, what’s love? / I thought I knew before / Now, I’m not sure anymore.”

The clip comes on the heels of the Jan. 5 release of the PINEO & LOEB remix of “Hot One,” a collaboration with REI AMI and and Leyla Blue. From the passion that Baby Tate exudes in the clip, it looks like “What’s Love” will be a banger, especially since the last couple of years were noticeably rocky for lovers.

Watching the calamity of young relationships blossom only to quickly fade, it’s apparent that people really don’t know what love is or how it should feel. Not to get too holy, but in a dusty old book called the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 gives a basis for what love should look like. It reads:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Even if you don’t ascribe to religion, spirituality, or Christianity, hopefully the foundation of treating people right is not too far off of the moral compass. If the relationship clearly lacks these elements, then that’s all the reason to question whether that “situationship” is investment worthy. In the meantime, Baby Tate’s “What’s Love” is the perfect vessel for inquiry into this age-old question.
