Amazon Rolls Out News App On Fire TV

Amazon is coming out with a news app that will compile news from multiple outlets all into one place on Fire TV. The service is set to roll out this week and will include options to filter news subjects for a customized experience.

The app will be an innovative extension of the already existing Alexa third-party news platform Skills. The new app can be launched through Alexa for free.

Users can launch the app by saying out loud “play the news”.

News content from 20 different outlets, including Bloomberg, Reuters, Entertainment Weekly and HuffPost, will be displayed. As the app becomes more popular, additional news outlets will be added to the platform.

The news app will be available on Fire tablets in the near future.

Amazon will contract most of its money via ads, sparing users from having to obtain a subscription or pay fees.
