Japanese Billionaire Yusaku Maezawa Offering Free Tickets To Travel Around The Moon On SpaceX’s Starship In 2023

Didn’t we tell you that people are trying to find a way to leave this Earth? Yes, yes, we love hip hop and juicy tea. But, wake up, people! There’s something wading in the water and all it needs is time!

Billionaire entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa is planning his first trip to the Moon and he wants eight people to go with him. SpaceX Starship will launch in 2023 with everyday passengers. The spacecraft is designed to not only carry about 10 to 12 human beings at a time, but it can also hold payloads while traveling to the outer galaxy.

Maezawa is excited to offer eight free tickets to participate in the dearMoon project, which will travel around the Moon before returning to Earth. In order to qualify, people will have to apply on the website, have a medical examination and then interview.

Pre-registration needs to be completed by March 14th. Those who are selected will be invited to the initial screening by March 21st. The assignment, online interview, and final interview and medical checkup will be completed by late May 2021.

A statement reads on the website:

“The first civilian mission to the Moon is planned to take place in 2023. The rocket developed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX will make a week-long journey to the Moon and back. In 2018, Japanese entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa purchased all the seats aboard this rocket. Wishing to give as many talented individuals as possible the opportunity to go, he announced in March 2021 his plans to choose 8 crew members from across the world.”

While SpaceX is still testing the Starship in preparation for the mission, two other passenger spacecrafts are making plans for takeoff later on this year and early next year. The Inspiration4 from Jared Isaacman is intended to go to orbit later in 2021 and the Axiom Space will carry four people, including one astronaut, to space in early 2023.
