Alicia Keys Performs “If I Ain’t Got You” With Queen Charlotte’s Global Orchestra For Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ Prequel

Following the premiere of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Netflix released a magical music video featuring award-winning recording artist Alicia Keys.  The multi-hyphen talent performed her 2004 hit single, “If I Ain’t Got You,” with the backing of the phenomenal Queen Charlotte’s Global Orchestra.  

The 74-piece orchestra consisting entirely of women of color was masterminded by Netflix, Shondaland, and Keys to celebrate the release of the Netflix series and the 20th anniversary of the single that secured Keys radio play for years to come.  

The music video features cameos from an international representation of artists, including German singer Alicia Awa, French singer Amel Bent, Swedish singer Cherrie, Amsterdam singer Rimon, and South Africa’s first Black female conductor Ofentse Pitse.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a prequel in the Bridgerton universe that follows a young Charlotte as she arrives in London on her wedding day to marry King George against her will while dealing with the scrutiny of the monarch’s mother.  

The series stars India Amarteifio as Young Queen Charlotte and Golda Rosheuvel returning as Queen Charlotte, along with Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, Corey Mylchreest, Michelle Fairley, Arsema Thomas, and Julie Andrews.  Six episodes of the first season released on May 4.  

“If I Ain’t Got You” appears on Alicia Keys sophomore studio album, Diary of Alicia Keys, released in 2003.  The single was Keys second chart-topping hit and earned her a Grammy for “Best Female R&B Vocal Performance” in 2005.  

The Diary of Alicia Keys went on to sell more than 600,000 copies in its first week, catapulting Keys’ music career to paramount heights.
