‘Them’ Director Ti West’s Campy Horror Flick ‘X’ Has ‘Texas Chainsaw’ Vibes [Trailer]

Eccentricity lives on in the latest cinematic creation from The Sacrament director Ti West. An official trailer has been released for X, a campy horror flick about a group of ambitious filmmakers and actors who attempt to shoot a film on the property of a creepy, elderly couple.

Starring Mia Goth (A Cure for Wellness), Jenna Ortega (Scream, 2022), Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect 3), Martin Henderson (The Strangers: Prey at Night), and Scott Mescudi (Don’t Look Up), also known as the music artist Kid Cudi, the trailer for the A24 pic gives Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibes, combining all the elements of a topsy turvy, gruesome horror film.

The ingredients, brimming with sex-charged characters, a 1970s look, and strange individuals inhabiting an isolated property, is an obvious ode to the thrilling genre.

West, who also wrote the script, is quickly becoming one of the go-to directors for horror film. The director’s track record lists The House of the Devil, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, V/H/S, and a multitude of horror television series.

In 2021, West directed two episodes, “Day 7: Morning” and “Day 10” of the groundbreaking Amazon series Them, created by Little Marvin and executive produced by Lena Waithe. The anthology series followed a Black family as they move to an all-White neighborhood in Compton, California in the 1950s.

X is expected to hit theaters on March 18th.
