The MouthSoap Playlist: Voices Of Fire’s “Joy,” That Song That Beyonce Was Jamming To At Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton Menswear Debut

Video clips of Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Zendaya sitting front row at the debut affair of Louis Vuitton’s 2024 Menswear Collection showed the superstar trio bobbing their heads to an inspirational gospel tune repeatedly proclaiming “Joy.”  It wasn’t too long before commenters begin to inquire about the song.

Pharrell Williams, the music producer known for mega-hits “Frontin’” and “Happy,” and also the newly minted creative director at Louis Vuitton, joined his uncle, Bishop Ezekiel Williams, to collaborate on the latest Voices of Fire single, “Joy (Unspeakable).”  The high-energy praise song was produced by Williams and Pastor Larry George.

“Lately, I’ve had a hard time / Ain’t been satisfied when I testify
Wanna make sure I’m sharp / When I make that point of view.”

– “Joy,” Voices of Fire

Voices of Fire documented their beginnings in a 2020 Netflix docuseries of the same name.  Bishop Williams handpicked singers from a series of auditions to complete the Virginia-based group. In 2021, the unconventional gospel group gained more recognition for their single, “Hit the Refresh,” also written and produced by Williams.

“Working with Pharrell is always an amazing experience that not only inspires you, but drives you to dig deep within yourself for the best you have to offer,” says Bishop Williams. “When the dream team finally came together on this song — Pharrell, Voices of Fire, Pastor Larry George, and yours truly — I knew that moment in the studio was one of destiny.”
