That Time When LeToya Luckett Had To Wait For True Love

The bright and bubbly LeToya Luckett always had a keen optimism about life. Her smile and energetic disposition seems to always carry her through some of the most toughest, publicized circumstances.

One of those times was when she divorced her first husband. The multi-hyphen talent went on HipHollywood in 2017 to discuss her music project at the time when she was asked about her divorce to Rob Hill Sr., a motivational speaker and book author.

Married in 2016, the marriage would end within months. However, she didn’t allow her divorce from her first husband to discourage her from loving again.

“Things happen when they’re supposed to and God brings certain people into your life for certain seasons and when the seasons are over, they are over,” she told HipHollywood. “There’s nothing wrong with moving on from that.”

In order to get through the difficult time, she would allow herself to cry and heal, to actually feel the emotions of the situation. She also used prayer to recover. In addition, Luckett credits time for helping her overcome the adversity.

Before her first marriage, she would be involved with Houston rapper Slim Thug for 10 years. That relationship did not end well either as rumors of infidelity circulated the blogs.

Despite the loss, she made sure to stay open to love and not allow one failed relationship to dictate her relationships in the future.

“God bless anyone from my past because I learned so many lessons from those relationships and I think that’s the other thing, learning the lesson,” she said. “Whatever the lesson is in it, learn that thing so you don’t have to repeat it.”

It’s a good thing she didn’t give up on love because she would soon meet her next hubby in Dallas, Texas entrepreneur Tommicus Walker. Now, the two are happily married and expecting a son together.

“He was definitely unexpected,” said Luckett when speaking of Walker on the show Book of John Gray. “You [John Gray] said that you are in the season to be a wife. You are a wife. So, stop carrying yourself like a girlfriend. He said this one won’t take long.”

Boy, was he right.
