Spencer James Returns To Crenshaw In ‘All American’ Season 3 Trailer

It’s that time of year again where our favorite shows that have been on hiatus or break are now coming back to the small screen. One of those shows is the CW TV series All American.

In the new season 3 trailer recently released, football star Spencer James, played by Daniel Ezra, returns to his beloved high school South Crenshaw High.

When we last saw Spencer, he was enduring a shoulder injury, taking him off of the field at Beverly Hills High. South Crenshaw was on the verge of being turned into a magnet school, and Billy Baker (Taye Digg) was deciding whether he was going to take on coaching at the fledgling school.

In the upcoming season, it appears that Billy follows through with his decision and Jordan (Michael Evans Behling) is not taking too kindly to Spencer’s return to Crenshaw. A bubbling rivalry is the perfect passage to a clash of the titans on the football field.

Recently, the real-life former NFL player Spencer Paysinger, in which the story is based and who plays the role of Assistant Coach Davis on the show, and Behling appeared on Complex Sports Load Management podcast to discuss the upcoming season.

The two cast members didn’t want to reveal too much. However, it is confirmed that Spencer will be at South Crenshaw and the season will delve into social and mental issues. Paysinger also revealed that several professional football players watch the show, including T.J. Ward, Charles James, Michael Thomas and Arian Foster. Behling gave a short rundown of what to expect in the new season.

“They’re seniors,” Behling said. “They’re coming into their first semester their senior year. The Beverly Eagles are dealing with a new coach. As for my character, JJ and Asher, they’re kind of handling this new coach and trying to adjust to that.”

The show is created by writer and producer April Blair with a cast starring Ezra, Diggs, Samantha Logan, Bre-Z, Demetrius Shipp Jr., Greta Onieogou, Karimah Westbrook, and Monet Mazur.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the series did not release in 2020, but instead was pushed back to the top of 2021 — almost four months behind.

All American returns to the CW on Jan. 18, 2021.
