Second Official Trailer For ‘The Addams Family 2′ Shows The Spooky Bunch Ridin’ Dirty

Just in time for Halloween, MGM drops the official second trailer to the Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon directed The Addams Family 2 — the animated sequel to the 2019 release The Addams Family, starring Charlize Theron as Morticia Addams, Oscar Issac as Gomez Addams, Chloë Grace Moretz as Wednesday Addams, and Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley Addams.

The first installment of the Tiernan and Vernon directed franchise saw the family relocating to New Jersey where the lovable, dysfunctional family collide with average residents who just can’t seem to understand the eccentric newcomers.

In the second installment, The Addams Family 2, written by Vernon, Erica Rivinoja, and Matt Lieberman, the family embarks on a wacky (and forced) vacation getaway where Morticia and Gomez attempt to bond with their distancing kids. As they hit the road in their haunted camper, they run into lovable cousin “It” (Snoop Dogg) and a bunch of questionable characters that make the trip even more interesting. The pic was penned by scribes Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit.

The Addams Family franchise originally started as a satire comic established by Charles Addams, and later became a television series created by David Levy in 1964. The series lasted for 64 episodes before ending in 1966, but would come back to life for a brief moment in 1973. Two animated series would follow before the spooky family would make it to the silver screen.

Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) directed the 1991 pic made popular from the unforgettable performances by Anjelica Huston (Morticia Addams), Raul Julia (Gomez Addams), Christina Ricci (Wednesday Addams), and Jimmy Workman (Pugsley Addams). The film made $191.5 million worldwide, setting the stage for a sequel in 1993 called Addams Family Values.

The Addams Family (2019) opened to $30.3 million on Oct. 11, 2019. Worldwide box office grosses total $203.8 million, more than enough reason for MGM to order a sequel.

The Addams Family 2 will release in theaters and on-demand on Oct. 1.
