Russell Simmons Launching Podcast ‘Lifestyles Of Hip Hop Yogi’

Def Jam founder Russell Simmons announced that he will be releasing new podcast Lifestyles of Hip Hop Yogi.

The hip hop mogul, who moved to Bali, Indonesia after a whirlwind of allegations from a former business associate, plans to give listeners an opportunity to hear stories from some of the most prolific figures in hip hop.

“I want to speak to everybody from Snoop and 50 and all the people that are older,” Simmons told AllHipHop.com. “And I want to talk about their journeys… what they’ve learned. Some of the people like Puffy, have traveled through a long life and still are hot. They didn’t fall off.”

Simmons has been an advocate for a healthy lifestyle, often practicing Yoga and eating vegan. In addition to the podcast, he told All Hip Hop that he will be opening a Yoga school in Bali.

“I’m building a school that teaches yogis how to teach yogis — I’m building it because I want the rest of my life to be about getting people out of suffering. Teaching them ways to cope and be happier and be greater servants,” said Simmons.

Simmons recently brought back his popular stand-up comedy show Def Comedy Jam as a special titled Healing Through Laughter to raise funds to buy essential personal protective equipment for first responders of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hosted by Cedric the Entertainer with DJ Kid Capri spinning, Healing Through Laugher was livestreamed via Facebook on April 5. The show featured Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Chris Tucker and more.
