Gun Violence Ends The Life Of Memphis Rapper Young Dolph At The Age Of 36

Rapper Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thorton Jr., has been killed by gun violence, according to official reports from authorities.  The Memphis rapper was 36 years old.

A shooting targeting the “Major” rapper occurred on Wednesday afternoon in front of a Memphis bakery store called Makeda’s Butter Cookies.

Photos from the scene show a black sports car parked in front of the store.  Witnesses, including the store owner, said that Young Dolph was in the process of making a purchase at the time of the shooting.

This is not the first attempt on Young Dolph’s life.  Back in 2017, 100 shots were fired at one of Young Dolph’s vehicles while in North Carolina.  At the time, Dolph’s rival, Blac Youngsta, was accused of being behind the incident.

Later that year, a fight broke out at a Hollywood hotel that resulted in Young Dolph being shot and hospitalized and one person arrested on attempted murder charges.  The suspect was eventually released, escaping charges.

Before the shooting that took his life occurred, Young Dolph had just recently gave out 200 Thanksgiving turkeys at the West Cancer Center on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing and while some sources are confirming a suspect has been identified, that information has yet to be released.

After making a name for himself with several mixtapes, the first being released in 2008, Young Dolph’s first studio album ‘King of Memphis’ debuted on Feb. 19, 2016.  The album peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard U.S. Rap chart.

In 2017, he released the certified gold single “100 Shots” from his second studio album ‘Bulletproof,’ capitalizing on the shooting incident he had survived.  He was best known for songs such as, “Get Paid,” “Go Get Sum Mo” with Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz and Ty Dolla $ign, and O.T. Genesis’ “Cut It” in which he was featured.

Throughout his career, Young Dolph released a total of seven studio albums and 19 mixtapes.
