Producer Of ‘Ali’ And ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Making Michael Jackson Biopic

Hollywood is making another movie about music icon Michael Jackson and this time his estate is authorizing the move and the film will be featured on the silver screen.

The Michael Jackson estate has given Oscar-winning producer Graham King of GK Films full access to Jackson’s music, Deadline reported first. John Logan will write the script about the pop legend’s life.

King has a history of working on the biopics of illustrious but complex public figures. King has produced biopics on Muhammed Ali with Ali, Howard Hughes with The Aviator and Freddie Mercury with Bohemian Rhapsody.

Logan has collaborated with King on The Aviator and penned scripts for Gladiator, Skyfall and Hugo.

Unlike past films covering the life of Michael Jackson, the GK Films production will focus on Jackson’s entire life from childhood up until his death at the age of 50. Sources are reporting that the film will also include the controversial allegations of sexual abuse made against the global pop icon.

The biopic will also be the first time that Jackson’s life story will be a major motion picture featured on the silver screen. However, this will not be the first time that a film has been made about Jackson’s life. A few TV films were released, along with some made-for-TV documentaries.

The popular TV mini-series The Jacksons: An American Dream (1992) followed the lives of The Jackson 5 from childhood to young adulthood as they pursued their dreams of music success. Many consider this film to be the most accurate depiction of the star’s life.

Man in the Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story (2004) was a VH1 production starring Flex Alexander. The film received a lot of negative reviews due to its inaccurate depiction of Jackson. Some viewers interpreted the film as a continuation of The Jacksons: An American Dream, showing Michael Jackson in his adulthood.

A Broadway musical on Jackson’s life is also in the works with Ephraim Sykes to play Jackson.
