Netflix Continues New Tradition Of Immersive, IRL Experiences Based On TV Series With ‘Squid Game: The Trials,’ Coming To L.A.

Fans of Netflix’s Squid Game can now use all the strategy and wisdom they hurled at their television screens while watching the intense series in a real-life challenge launching in December 2023. The major streamer announced an immersive experience titled Squid Game: The Trials will open in Los Angeles.

The Front Man, a central character who initiates the rabbit-hole race to riches in the 2021 series, will greet those who dare to participate in the immersive, digital challenge. Upon entry, participants will have 70-minutes to successfully complete six challenges testing their intellect and courage.

The cultural moment will be made legendary with the addition of a Korean-based Night Market offering a selection of culinary options, all creations of YANGBAN Chef Katianna Hong. Photo opportunities, an arcade, and a Squid Game fan store offering an exclusive collection of merchandise will round out the live experience.

Netflix Announces Cast For Season 2 Of ‘Squid Game

Squid Game: The Trials is not the first time Netflix has brought their programming to fans in real life. The Los Angeles-based company has successfully curated immersive experiences such as formal balls for Bridgerton, otherworldly storytelling for Stranger Things, and a high-quality robbery themed journey for Money Heist.

In 2022, Netflix partnered with Immersive Gamebox to bring the real-life, multiplayer game to the UK, Germany, and UAE, and 14 locations across the U.S. The original 60-minute “Squid Game” consisted of the famous “Red Light, Green Light” challenge, along with “Marbles,” “Tug-of-War,” and the “Glass Bridge” challenges featured in the hit Netflix series.
