Marvel Studios Gives Glimpse Of Kang The Conqueror Played By Jonathan Majors In ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’

By now, fans already know that Jonathan Majors is joining Paul Rudd as Kang The Conqueror in ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania.’  Marvel Studios released the first official trailer to the film, set for a February 2023 debut, giving moviegoers a glimpse of what’s to come.

The third installment of the ‘Ant-Man’ storyline, ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’ kicks off Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  The plot was penned by first-time feature film writer for a major studio, Jeff Loveness, based on the story created by late comic book writer Jack Kirby.

‘Quantumania’ follows Scott Lang (Rudd) as he is vacuumed into the Quantum Realm, along with his daughter, Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton), Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas).

Within that realm, they meet several strange characters, including the mystical Kang the Conqueror (Majors), who requests Ant-Man’s help.  What that help may entail is not revealed within the trailer.

The first trailer features Elton John’s 1973 song, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” a pop rock ballad that references ‘The Wizard of Oz.’  In addition, the trailer reveals a peek at the graphically psychedelic world of Quantum and the debut of some superhero suits.

Peyton Reed, who directed ‘Ant-Man’ in 2015 and ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ in 2018, returns to direct the superhero feature, also starring Randall Park and Bill Murray.

Majors has been kicking butt in the realm of Hollywood.  Since his breakout role as Ken Jones in the television series, ‘When We Rise,’ the Yale School of Drama actor has landed some pretty unforgettable projects.  That list includes ‘White Boy Rick’ (2018), ‘The Last Black Man in San Francisco’ (2019), ‘Lovecraft Country’ (2020), and ‘The Harder They Fall’ (2021).

Majors’ credentials will be extended to legendary status by 2023 with many highly-anticipated films on the horizon.  In addition to ‘Quantumania,’ he will star in J.D. Dillard’s fighter pilot film ‘Devotion,’ Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Creed III,’ and bodybuilder drama, ‘Magazine Dreams.’

While all of these films will add to an already incredible filmography, Majors progression in the MCU, first starting with a short-lived role in the Disney+ series ‘Loki,’ will certainly propel his trajectory.

‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’ releases in theaters on February 17, 2023.
