Draw: Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr. Bless Us With 8-Round Fight, And Hilarious Post-Fight Interview

Nearly 15 years out of retirement, heavyweight champion Mike Tyson put in work going the full 8 rounds with Roy Jones Jr. before the heavyweight exhibition bout for the WBC Frontline Belt was called a draw.

Jones — two years out of retirement — gave Tyson a run for his money. Each passing minute, a resurgence of energy exuded from the boxers. By round 7 and 8, both Tyson and Jones were back to their old ways as Jones, also known as the “Pound-for-Pound King,” made an impression with his ability to swiftly duck and Tyson recovering from smoldering embraces with electrifying footwork and powerful body punches.

Viewers were certain that Iron Mike had won the bout, only to be disappointed when the fight was called a draw. An exhausted Jones admitted in the post-fight interview that Tyson still got it. “I thought I had a six pack, but I need to get me a 12-pack,” Jones said in the post-fight interview.

Tyson, however, seemed energized by the fight and couldn’t seem to wait to plan for more. When he offered Jones a chance for a rematch on the spot, Jones responded, “I gotta ask my family.”

The two legends continued to crack jokes throughout the entire post-fight interview with Jones seemingly amazed that he was still alive and Tyson absorbing the fact that he won his first boxing match out of retirement — although the draw was a kind gesture that showed great sportsmanship.

Overall, the fight was entertaining and for a moment, since the Gucci Mane and Jeezy Verzuz sparring, it gave the world one more opportunity to take the edge off in 2020.

Social media went crazy with jokes about Nate Robinson’s knockout by YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul. Others expressed their respect for legends Tyson and Jones fighting in the ring in their 50s.
