Raymond Santana, one of the men falsely accused in the Central Park Five case, is now engaged to model and former reality TV star Chandra Davis, also known as Deelishis.
Santana, 45, proposed to Deelishis, 41, on Thursday (Dec. 5) after two months of dating. The couple first met at Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kandi Burruss’ husband’s birthday party.
After meeting at Todd Tucker’s party, they followed each other on Instagram. Santana made sure to express his interest by liking all of Deelishis’ photos.
The tactic worked and soon Deelishis went on a date with Santana. Two months later, Santana set up a lunch at a restaurant for a planned proposal.
“She didn’t know it was coming at all. It was a big surprise. I had her sister fly in, I had her best friend fly in. Her daughter was there and her mom was on the phone. She didn’t know.”
Deelishis is most famous for being on VH1’s reality TV show Flavor of Love. She, along with several other women, competed for a romantic relationship with rapper Flavor Flav. She won the dating competition, but eventually broke up with the Public Enemy rapper.
Santana was wrongfully convicted, along with four other black men, of raping a white female jogging in Central Park back in 1989. Santana served seven years for a crime he did not commit. The city awarded him $7 million in a settlement.
