‘Atlanta’ Ending With Season 4 On Cusp Of Season 3 Premiere Announcement

In an odd shuffle of show dates for the FX series Atlanta that often sparked viral conversations, the network’s chairman announced that the show will not be renewed after the fourth season.

“After a four year absence, we’re graced with the return of Atlanta. Donald Glover and his team have shot the final two seasons of the series,” John Landgraf, chairman of FX, said. “The fourth and final season is slated to debut in the same manner in the fall. The new season is everything you’d expect from Atlanta – which is to say expect the unexpected. Sit back and enjoy the trip.”

Starring Donald Glover, who also created the show concept, the first season of Atlanta premiered in Sept. 2016. After a one-year break, the second season premiered March 2018.

A teaser of the third season was released on Christmas Day 2021, three years after the last episode aired. This season will have 10 episodes, with two back-to-back episodes premiering on March 24. Glover gave his reasons for ending the series.

“To be honest I wanted to end it at Season 2,” Glover said. “When the conditions are right for something, they happen, and when the conditions aren’t right they don’t happen. Things start to get weird — you can’t do too much. The story was always supposed to be what it was and the story, it really was us.”

Viewers can catch the series on FX or the streamer Hulu.
