Ashanti Contracts COVID-19, Verzuz Battle With Keyshia Cole Postponed Until January

R&B and pop singer Ashanti had to cancel her highly anticipated Verzuz battle with Keyshia Cole after she learned she contracted COVID-19. The “Happy” singer made the announcement a few hours before the start of the battle on Saturday.

“Hey y’all I can’t believe I’m saying this but I tested positive for COVID-19. I’m ok and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the verzuz from my house…we’re trying to figure it all out!!!” Ashanti posted on Instagram.

Soon, both Swizz Beatz and Timbaland would post their own notice via the Verzuz platform.

“Unfortunately, we have to postpone tonight’s Ashanti vs Keyshia Cole Verzuz. Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19 beforehand, and we cannot put anyone at risk in the process.”

Ashanti will be under quarantine for the next few weeks. A new date for the battle has been postponed until Jan. 9.
