ASAP Mob Rapper Chynna Rogers Cause Of Death Ruled An Accidental Drug Overdose

News of the death of A$AP Mob affiliate Chynna Rogers, 25, was released on Wednesday (April 8) and now the cause of her death has been confirmed. The Philadelphia model and rapper died of an accidental drug overdose, according to the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.

“Chynna was deeply loved and will be sorely missed,” said a statement from her family. A$AP Rocky, Kehlani and other music industry peers shared their condolences on the loss.

Rogers, who was professionally discovered by the late A$AP Yams, went viral when she released her song “Selfie” in 2013. She would go on to release her 2015 EP I’m Not Here. This Isn’t Happening and 2016 mixtape Ninety. In 2019, she released the foretelling EP In Case I Die First. She talked about her bout with drug addiction throughout her music career.

The A$AP Mob has seen one too many deaths in their circle. The founder of the crew, Steven “A$AP Yams” Rodriquez, died at the age of 26 of an overdose on lean in 2015. Affiliated DJ and producer J. Scott aka A$AP Snacks died in February 2020. An official cause of death has yet to be determined.

While the influence of Houston’s hip hop culture is among the epitome of creative uniqueness, the co-opting of opiate and codeine concoctions to inspire musical creativity has killed some of the best in the rap game (RIP DJ Screw).

A$AP Mob is well known for being influenced by Houston and infatuated with the drug culture. But, with members of the group passing away in their mid-twenties, it’s about time that they retire the outdated rapper tradition of making drugs cool.

RIP Chynna.
