Things We Can Learn From Megan Thee Stallion’s Chaotic Rise To The Top And Unfolding Domestic Violence Drama

It took a while for The MouthSoap to cover the shocking story of Megan Thee Stallion allegedly being shot by her alleged secret boyfriend Tory Lanez after an argument ensued in a SUV. For one, the original story of multiple gunshots being fired and Megan “cutting” her foot on glass didn’t seem accurate.

Later, the story would develop into Megan being shot several times. But that theory quickly dissolved when a video was released showing the “Savage” rapper and her best friend exiting the SUV with hands up to police demands. The whole story seemed all over the place and since Megan initially didn’t speak out publicly detailing the incident, it just didn’t feel right to say too much on it.

But, now that Megan has confirmed that she was shot in not one but both feet, she’s also hitting back at online goofys that think this moment is another opportunity for them to joke about for more likes.

“Black women are so unprotected & we hold so many things in to protect the feelings of others w/o considering our own,” Megan posted. “It might be funny to y’all on the internet and just another messy topic for you to talk about but this is my real life and I’m real life hurt and traumatized.”

Jason Lee from Hollywood Unlocked also went on to radio and spilled some “tea”. It’s unconfirmed, but the Love and Hip Hop star alleged that Tory and Megan got into an argument inside the Hollywood Hills home where the party took place and was kicked out by Kylie Jenner. The argument traveled to the vehicle where it got out of hand after insults were hurled. Tory’s resolve was to shoot Megan, but she tussled for the gun and he allegedly ended up shooting her feet accidentally. According to Jason Lee, they were arguing over Tory being overly flirtatious with the female guests of the party.

On Monday (July 27), a day that happened to be Tory Lanez birthday according to the Los Angeles Hip Hop radio stations, Megan got on her Instagram Live to address everything. In tears, she talked about the pain of not getting over losing her mother and grandmother.

She also reduced her latest drama to being a 25-year-old, something many responsible 25-year-olds would question since it’s not a good excuse to be irresponsible with her platform or “energy.” But, that’s neither here or there, however.

Megan seemed to be really hurt about finding out that “Hollywood” was and still is predominately fake. Something we could’ve told her from some Houstonians to another. Beyonce isn’t the way she is for nothing. Dealing with untrustworthy people with hidden agendas, ulterior motives and bad intentions is a reason why we were so disappointed that Megan decided to represent Houston the way she did. Houston has some real down to earth people with trill situations and we build our way, f–k a fake friend. But, that’s neither here or there, too.

At the end of the day, Megan has a lot to learn and we’re hoping that she will take advantage of her network to expedite that learning curve so she can skip the devastating mistakes young up-and-comers make on the rise to the top. But, let’s get back to the issue at hand.

Domestic violence is a real issue that should not be trivialized as a joke. Unfortunately, social media makes everything a joke. Real life issues become memes and fodder for the sheep. But, celebrities and public personalities should take some accountability.

When COVID-19 hit the U.S. and stay-at-home orders were issued, attention seeking celebrities took advantage of the moment by relentlessly pushing their products and content to the consumer. So, for months we were hostage to endless Tik Tok and Instagram dance challenges, quarantine radio and club experiences and quarantine style music videos.

This onslaught of self-serving Hip-Hop music artists (not all, but most) dismissing the real life issue of COVID-19 and later, the uprising of the black community against racism, all for an opportunity to promote, promote, promote is one reason why the Internet doesn’t take these folks seriously when something bad happens to them.

Megan Thee Stallion, in particular, twerked her way through the entire travesty of the first half of 2020. When we were protesting in the streets, she was on Instagram Story eating kale and shaking her half covered romp. It was all about her No. 1 hit. Remember?

It wasn’t until the national protests started trending on social media that she would finally post something advocating for the black community, and even then, the post was passionless.

But, now that she is involved in a 2020 drama of her own, she wants everyone to be concerned and empathetic. Just knowing the immature deposition of social media, that empathy will be hard to come by and a lot of the concern and well wishes will be coming from clout chasers that will flip on Megan in a heartbeat depending on the circumstance.

Yes, fans are fickle. They build you up to tear you down and love doing it. Look at the greats, such as Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Whitney Houston and Nicki Minaj. One day they love you, the next they forgot all the work you did. This is why it is so important for artists to create balanced art. Megan stays in one lane. She pushes the narrative of a ratchet, hood chick with some qualities of independence, but a sole focus on exploiting sex and capitalism.

We hardly get a chance to see her talk about real life. Just being from Houston, there has to be much more depth to her growing up in the South. But, all we hear about is her ass and conflicts with men of color.

As history would show it, music artists that have this type of foundation don’t last long because they bore quickly and they’re easily replaceable. So, a word of advice to Megan is that she needs to do a pivot turn and re-evaluate her contribution to the universe. At the end of the day, we all get back what we put out.

Here’s a few things we learned from Megan’s ordeal:

Artists Who Don’t Create “Real Art” Are Disposable

If you are an artist, you have a responsibility to create art that will not glorify the ideas that dehumanize and remove value and respect from your community. The notion that you can “pop your pussy for a goon” in one instance and then expect people to take you seriously in another is delusional and naive. That’s not the world we live in. Unfortunately, people have one-dimensional thinking and start to glitch when things become too complicated. That is why balanced art is so important. Come out the gate showing all aspects of you. Not just one side.

Cap Rap Is A Deadly Game

When an artist presents a certain persona and it’s not true to self, they risk being put in a situation that challenges that persona. In that instance, Cap Rap, a method of exaggerating that artists tend to use in their music, becomes deadly. If the artist is not about that life, then it could end up poorly for the artist.

If You Show You Care About The People, They Will Show They Care About You (Sometimes)

Artists should know that if they never show the proper love to their fans, but instead resort to an egotistical, all about you demeanor every time fans see them, the meaningful connection that could have been established is already reduced to the artist just being entertainment. So, anything the artist does will be treated as that, entertainment. The artist’s life could be at risk and fans and haters will still think it was a part of a publicity stunt or movie. It’s horrible, but that’s the way it is.

Black Women Are Unprotected, But They Also Contribute To How Black Women Are Perceived

There’s an ongoing civil war between black men and women that stems all the way from slavery. Today, the relations between the two is embattled with issues of disrespect, infidelity, abuse, irresponsibility and more. But, black women know this. Black women know how some black men treat their own. How a black man can love on his black mother everyday, but turn around and disrespect a young, black lady. It’s a complicated issue that takes therapeutic unraveling. With that said, black women who have a public platform should be careful not to disrespect and abuse themselves or allow others to, as well. Ultimately, black women are teaching people how to treat them, so artists, such as Megan Thee Stallion, should infuse values of respect, integrity, character, gentleness, love, compassion, intelligence and other positive elements into their music. How can one treat you like a queen when you’re begging them to just look at your ass? Make up your mind.

At the end of the day, we wish Houston’s very own Megan Thee Stallion a speedy recovery physically, mentally and spiritually. Going through is difficult when you have to do it in front of an audience. Now, it’s time for Megan to grind and shine.

She shouldn’t feel bad for speaking her mind and checking a man that most likely disrespected her. But, she should reconsider being in circles with people who have reputations for being B.A.N.s (B—h A– N—–) and dating men for sport. She should consider bringing more substance to her craft. Lastly, Megan should consider pulling the Taylor Swift in the situation with Kanye West and milk the spirit of Tory Lanez until she is a multi-platinum artist doing worldwide arenas, ok?!

This story is still developing.
