The Mo City Don, Z-Ro, Celebrates Birthday At Houston’s House Of Blues

H-town legend and Mo City Don, Z-Ro, celebrated his 43rd birthday at Houston’s House of Blues on Sunday night.

The who’s who of Houston fame stepped in the building to show support for the longtime hustler who grew his music career from “the mud”.

Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Johnny Dang, J. Prince, Sheila Jackson Lee, Big Angry Charles Adams and Judge George Powell were all in attendance at the big shindig.

The three hour party included a few performances by some of Z-Ro’s rapper friends. Then, was followed by close family and friends telling stories about Z-Ro.

The apex of the night was when Z-Ro came out on the House of Blues stage to give a speech. He sported a dapper sequined suit with hat, glasses and loafers. He proceeded to perform 20 of his prolific hits, including “Get Throwed”, “I Hate You” and “Mo City Don Freestyle”.

“Had a pretty good got damn time @hobhouston. I’d like to thank everyone who came out to rocc with me on my birthday,” Z-Ro posted on Instagram after the party.

Born Joseph Wayne McVey IV, Z-Ro rose to fame out of Missouri City. He would release notable projects Z-Ro vs. the World, The Life of Joseph W. McVey, and become famous for naming his albums after drugs with projects Crack, Cocaine, Heroin, Meth and Angel Dust.

A former member of rap group Guerrilla Maab, he’s also collaborated with the legendary Screwed Up Click and Houston’s very own hero Trae Tha Truth. Known for his ability to effortlessly freestyle, the “I’m OK” rapper released 15 mixtapes over his career.

Happy birthday, Z-Ro!
