It’s been 30 years since the TV sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air premiered on September 10, 1990. Now, fans will have the opportunity to see their favorite characters Will (Will Smith), Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro), Ashley (Tatyana Ali), Hilary (Karyn Parsons), Jazz (DJ Jazzy Jeff), Vivian (Daphne Maxwell Reid) and Geoffrey (Joseph Marcell) reunite on a HBO Max special.

Produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Westbrook Media, the reunion special will recapture some of the most memorable moments from the show.

Fans are hoping to see Will Smith talk about the unforgettable scene where Will’s dad disappoints him once again. Also, it seems inevitable that the cast will discuss the impact of James Avery, who played father figure Philip Banks, on the sitcom.

Created by Susan and Andy Borowitz, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air followed the life of a young, hip hop influenced Will who moved from Philadelphia to Bel-Air with his aunt, uncle and cousins for a better quality of life.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ran for six seasons, containing 148 episodes. The sitcom has won the NAACP Image Awards, Kids’ Choice Awards, and several international awards, and was nominated twice for the Golden Globes for Will Smith’s acting.

However, the Emmys has failed to recognize the show with the exception of a nomination for Outstanding Lighting Direction for a Comedy Series, a sure dig for such a popular and timeless show that has been in syndication for the last two decades.

The reunion will be directed by Marcus Raboy and executive produced by Rikki Hughes, Lukas Kaiser, Miguel Melendez and Brad Haugen.

The HBO Max special is expected to be aired in late November.
