Taylor Takahashi, Pop Smoke Star In Eddie Huang Basketball Drama ‘Boogie’

Fresh Off The Boat director Eddie Huang introduces the official trailer for Focus Features’ Boogie, his debut feature film and first project since his role as producer on the television series.

Set in contemporary New York City, Alfred “Boogie” Chin is a Asian American basketball phenom who dreams of playing in the NBA. As he attempts to balance pressure from his parents to earn a college scholarship, Boogie must also navigate a new girlfriend, high school, on-court rivals and the burden of expectation. The script is penned by Eddie Huang.

Boogie stars Taylor Takahashi, who is making his feature film acting debut. Hit The Floor and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom starlet Taylour Paige joins the cast, along with the late Brooklyn drill music artist Pop Smoke, who is also making his acting debut. Music from the rap star is also featured on the film soundtrack helmed by Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records, including his hit remake of Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson’s “Many Men” off of his 2003 multi-platinum album Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which was also featured on Jackson’s debut feature film of the same name.
