Rolling Loud Hong Kong Cancelled Amid Protests

Rolling Loud Hong Kong has been cancelled due to the current political conflict occurring in Hong Kong. A statement was released on the Rolling Loud Facebook page:

“We are saddened to announce that Rolling Loud Hong Kong, which was scheduled to occur on October 19th and 20th at Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District, is being cancelled. After consulting with security experts, it has been determined that it is not possible to organize the upcoming Rolling Loud Hong Kong edition as we had hoped without endangering the safety and well-being of our fans, artist, and staff.”

Brought to the city by Live Nation Electronic Asia, this would’ve been the first time that the festival had taken place in Hong Kong and the first time that Hong Kong ever hosted a two-day Hip Hop music event.

The festival had 18 Hip Hop acts booked, including Playboi Carti, Ski Mask The Slump God, $uicideboy$, Lil Skies, Sup Music, Smokepurpp, Robb Bank$ and headliners, Migos and Wiz Khalifa.

For the last 5 months, there’s been a major rift between Chinese government and the people of Hong Kong over legislation that would enable the government to extradite people facing charges to mainland China. With thousands of protestors holding pro-democracy demonstrations, Chinese authorities have responded with brutal tactics, such as tear gas and battery, to end the protests.
