Netflix Drops First Look Of ‘JEEN-YUHS’ With A 2002 Rap Session From Mos Def And Kanye West

“I miss the old Kanye, straight from the ‘Go Kanye,
Chop up the soul Kanye, set on his goals Kanye,
I hate the new Kanye, the bad mood Kanye,
The always rude Kanye, spazz in the news Kanye,
I miss the sweet Kanye, chop up the beats Kanye.”

-“I Love Kanye” | Kanye West

Netflix released a first look of the Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah directed documentary JEEN-YUHS, and it’s giving hip hop nostalgia. The clip shows Mos Def going on a lyrical rampage before Kanye West passionately takes the reins in a high-energy rap session that took place in 2002, all while Creed actor Wood Harris watches.

JEEN-YUHS takes viewers on a ruminative journey as the documentary delves into the life of Kanye West, from his smaller beginnings as a producer vying to rap to his ventures in the treacherously competitive world of business.

This is not the first time that Simmons and Ozah have dabbled in the world of Kanye. In 2004, the duo worked on the third version of “Jesus Walks,” followed by a video anthology for “College Dropout,” and a video for Malik Yusef’s “Wouldn’t You Like to Ride?” featuring West and fellow Chicago rapper Common.

JEEN-YUHS is set for a 2022 premiere on Netflix. Will you be watching?
