Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad Pledges $25,000 Towards Everyday Bills Of Black Protestors, Asks For Cash Apps

Lena Waithe and her company Hillman Grad are donating $25,000 toward black protestors who need their bills paid. The Chi showrunner made the announcement via Instagram on Wednesday.

She captioned the video with a heartfelt message.

“We are heartbroken and outraged, just as you are. Our hearts are heavy and our hurt has turned into frustration at the lack of compassion and fortitude to stand up for black, queer, and trans communities that have been marginalized for far too long. To that end, we are dedicating and donating $25,000 directly to Black Protestors who are out on the frontlines – at the rallies – marching for justice and peace.”

“We want to lean in and help you cover bail, rent, bills, groceries or other financial needs during this time while you are out protesting. Comment below with your CashApp or Venmo listing your needs and we will continue to donate until our goal has been met. This will be an ongoing effort to provide the necessary resources for our fearless leaders.⁣. We support the cause and we see you, we stand with you, we are you. In solidarity, Lena Waithe, @HillmanGradProductions, HillmanHELPS.” ⁣
