Kanye West Makes An Impression At Lakewood Church

Kanye West made his grand appearance at pastor Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, TX on Sunday.

Kim Kardashian and daughter North West both were in attendance to support Kanye. The congregation was receptive to the rapper and accepted his family with open arms, even giving Kim Kardashian an enthusiastic applause reminiscent of an awards show.

Osteen, in all his humbleness, introduced Kanye to the crowd and interviewed the rap star on his transition from heathen to Christian at the 11 a.m. service.

Osteen had some great questions for the controversial rapper. He asked Kanye about his childhood influences and what made him change his life around and pursue God. He even questioned how authentic Kanye’s commitment was to the religion.

Kanye is known for his provocative thoughts and outside of the box thinking. However, as he stood on the stage next to Osteen, something was different about his aura.

People and media have criticized him for exploiting Christianity for capitalistic gains and even making a mockery of the religion by contradicting himself.

Yet, as he stood on the stage, his message of not being perfect but still striving for a better existence with a more meaningful impact certainly touched Joel Osteen and the congregation.

Kanye, 42, talked about the pitfalls of fame, which comes along with promiscuity, addiction and emptiness. Since he has transitioned to Christianity, he now understands the greater meaning of life.

Today’s Kanye is about family, impact and moral ideologies. Maybe it’s the fact that he now has children or maybe it was the tumultuous set of circumstances that caused him to have a mental breakdown. Whatever it was, it has caused the superstar “Flashing Lights” singer to be a person of more depth, empathy and wisdom.

He’s still cocky as ever, at one point saying that he is the best rapper alive to join God’s team. But, there’s something different about Kanye and if he’s faking it, then he’s surely a great actor.

Kanye proceeded to tell the audience about strip clubs being a conveyor belt for sex trafficking and how the youth are being deceived by media.

The producer even prayed for the audience, breaking the prayer to talk about the upcoming birthday celebration of one of his four children.

Kanye did not perform music at the 11 a.m. service, but will return to Lakewood Church for the 7 p.m. service to perform music from his latest album Jesus Is King.
