K-Pop Entertainer Goo Hara Passes Away At 28

Another Korean pop star has died. Goo Hara was found dead in her Seoul, South Korea home on Sunday. A cause of death has not been announced. She was 28 years old.

In May, the former member of K-pop girl group Kara was found unconscious in her home following a post she made on social media saying “Goodbye”. Hara survived the apparent suicide attempt and was treated at the hospital.

Hara, whose legal name was Koo HaRa, had just signed to a major Japanese management agency and was planning on touring Japan. She recently released her single “Midnight Queen”.

Several K-pop entertainers have been dying or committing suicide. Last month, K-pop star Sulli was found dead from an apparent suicide at the age of 25.

The K-pop industry has a growing reputation of being too hard on the talent. Issues with weight management, sexuality and gruesome training camps have caused many of K-pop’s stars to deteriorate right before fans’ eyes.

Regulation or government intervention has yet to be implemented to protect K-pop entertainers that sign to major management agencies.
