It’s Here! Jay Electronica Releases His Long Anticipated Debut Album ‘A Written Testimony’

If you’ve been on social media or listened to The Breakfast Club, it’s no secret that people were highly skeptical about Jay Electronica actually releasing his long awaited debut album A Written Testimony. But, the day is finally here.

Amid the coronavirus shutting everything down, TIDAL did have to cancel the scheduled listening sessions that were supposed to take place in Los Angeles, New York City and New Orleans.

However, Jay Electronica hosted an online listening session that streamed on TIDAL and YouTube.

The session begins with a very powerful speaking excerpt from the Minister Louis Farrakhan from what people labeled the “Scared To Death Negroes” speech on the track “Ghost of Soulja Slim”. Then, Jay-Z’s voice enters the record. Talk about goosebumps.

Other songs on the album include “Ghost of Soulja Slim”, “The Blinding”, “The Neverending Story”, “Shiny Suit Theory”, “Universal Soldier”, “Flux Capacitor”, “Fruits Of The Spirit”, “Ezekiel’s Wheel” and “A.P.I.D.T.A.”

Jay Electronica has a lot to say and all 39.34 minutes of it is worth the listen. Substance, elevated minds, reflection and warrior focus are all the words that come into play when listening to A Written Testimony.

The 10-track album features Jay-Z on most of the songs, and features from Travis Scott, The-Dream, James Blake, LAW Parker, James Fauntleroy, Emory Jones and Jeymes Samuel.

Tracks on the album are produced by Jay Electronia, Swizz Beatz, Hit-Boy, No I.D., G. Ry, the Alchemist, Khruangbin and AraabMuzik.

A Written Testimony is Jay Electronica’s follow up to his 2007 mixtape Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge). The album that was recorded in 40 days also comes in Arabic.
