Houston Rapper, Monaleo, Body Bags Opps In New Single [Parental Advisory In Effect]

One of the quickest ways to assuage a situation is to bring laughter into the fold. Houston rapper Monaleo clearly understands the assignment. The female emcee is full of humor on her latest effort, “Body Bag,” an unapologetically vicious lyrical assault on her opps.

The official music video for the single does not disappoint, marinating in all of the violent gore that the title entails just in time for Halloween. It’s a far cry from her 2020 single debut, “First Draft Pick,” where Monaleo clearly had the gift of rap gab but portrayed a more conservative image.

Then, Monaleo gave respect to Houston’s legendary soundtrack of the 1990s when she sampled Yungstar’s “Knocking Pictures Off Da Wall” from his album Throwed Yung Playa, a song that has also enjoyed the DJ Screw treatment becoming one of the anthems for H-Town.

Monaleo’s version, “Beating Down Yo Block,” dropped in 2021 to receptive listeners, giving her more visibility in hip hop circles. She followed up with a host of singles, including the Detroit-style “Suck It Up” and “Hands Up” with fellow Texas artist Tay Money.

Although still independent, it’s only a matter of time before Monaleo receives recognition on a wide scale. In the meantime, check out her music video for “Body Bag.”
