Homophobia In The Black Community Persists As Video Goes Viral Of Man Physically Assaulting Boy For “Doing Gay S—“

A video is going viral of an underage child being physically assaulted by a man in front of an audience of adults. On Thursday, a Twitter user that goes by the name @KingDaniel912 posted a disheartening video of a young boy being held by the back of his neck as an older man verbally and physically abused him. In the video that was apparently recorded by people the child knows, the frightened boy is being hit in the head and aggressively pushed around as he fumbles across a porch.

“You a gay a– b—-,” the man in the video tells the unidentified boy. “You still doing gay s—. You think that’s on the side of your head for no reason? Why would you say that gay a– s—?”

The video ends with the man threatening to further abuse the child for an incident that occurred the night before, according to the man. Shortly after the video went viral, the victim, who is alleged to be Instagram user brownskintie123, went on Instagram live to assure people that he was not hurt and he didn’t consider the incident abuse.

During his live, two older people could clearly be seen standing in the doorway of the room where he was conducting the IG live. Many users on Twitter assumed the boy — possibly named Tyler — was being forced to do the video, so they sent the video to @Atlanta_Police in hopes that Child Protective Services would get involved.

With only two posts on his account, the boy’s profile went from 887 followers at the time of his live to 5,923 followers by the end of the day. On his account, he has two rainbows — a sign often used to represent the LGBTQ community. For the record, the young boy did not declare his sexuality on the video.
