The Year Of “P”: Gunna Drops Highly-Anticipated Drake Featured “P Power” On The Heels Of “Pushin P”

Social media was abuzz like a bunch of TMZ reporters when Gunna released Drip Season 4Ever, and while reviews were raving, some listeners were shocked that one song was left off the 19-track album. The raunchy but slatty “P power” featuring Drake leaked earlier in 2021 was noticeably nowhere to be found.

Fans speculated that the rated R track was pulled from the project because of Drake’s recent headline troubles. Others assumed that the song would be released on the explicit deluxe version of the album.

One week after the album dropped, however, Gunna’s team released the highly anticipated bop just one day after premiering the official video for the Young Thug and Future anthem “pushin P,” along with a number to “text” a “P” letter obsessed Gunna (470-206-3380). In the video, the slime trio sneaks in a quick insert of strip club nudity before quickly transitioning to clips in a clothing store. But, I digress.

Gunna, himself, confirmed on a recent Breakfast Club interview that the song was delayed because of clearance issues. The Donna Summer sample had to be re-recorded by another artist before “P power” could be released.

After waiting for “P power” to hit the floor running, come to find out, Drake’s verse is so short — 32-seconds short, despite the song being over 3-minutes.

And for all it’s glory, it feels like the two artists recorded in separate studios, rapping on different themes. Gunna was stuck on the “P,” while Drake started off covering the topic but quickly took the half-minute bar session to whip out his peter on his enemies and competitors.

All in all, “P power” doesn’t disappoint even though it’s not one of those songs that can be played anywhere, anytime.
