First Episode Of The Lox’s New Podcast ‘Living Off Xperience’ Features Mary J. Blige And Angie Martinez

The Lox premiered the first episode of their new podcast Living Off Xperience this week and they had a very special reunion with someone they’ve known since childhood.

The legendary Yonkers, NY rap group welcomed platinum selling R&B singer Mary J. Blige to the show, alongside veteran radio host Angie Martinez.

The reunion was a sweet one, considering that everyone had pretty much started in the same hip hop era and have all had successful careers.

In the half hour interview, the Lox and Blige discussed how they met each other when they were children. “She was always giving, I used to beg her for dollars,” Styles P said. “There was a time I was complaining to my cousin about sneakers and she bought me some Pumas. I’ll never forget that.”

They also talked about working with Diddy and how they were able to get their demo tapes to him. When asked about some advice that they may have received from the greats, such as Diddy or Jay Z, the Lox recalled being cautioned about work ethic.

In one incident, Diddy asked the group why they were leaving the studio before him, emphasizing that their work ethic as an artist should be leveled up. Jay Z once told Jadakiss that “It takes a special n—- to grind.”

Mary J. Blige revealed that Chaka Khan once told her to get out of her own way. Every since that day, she has made a conscious effort to not hinder her own progress.

Another hot topic on the podcast was about COVID-19 and wearing face masks. Blige said that she already took a test and it came out negative. But, she’s been on the move, still working throughout the pandemic.

Blige is expecting to announce some big news soon, but she did not reveal any details. The Lox will be releasing the album Living Off Xperience on August 8.
