‘Euphoria’ Season 2 Soundtrack Includes Heart-wrenching Bangers From Labrinth, Zendaya, Yeat, ericdoa, And More

It’s not surprising that Euphoria has one of the best soundtracks out. With Drake executive producing the HBO Original series, it would be an oxymoron to lack in the music department.

The soundtrack for season two of the high school drama is an array of mostly introspective songs that fit perfectly into the theme of the show. The person behind the eclectic selection is music supervisor Jen Malone. She also curated the soundtrack for Donald Glover’s Atlanta.

There’s some bonafide classics on the soundtrack, including Billy Swan’s “Don’t Be Cruel,” Orville Peck’s “Dead of Night,” Bobby Darin’s “Call Me Irresponsible,” and “It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over” by Lenny Kravitz.

Apart from a few upbeat tunes from newer artists, such as ericdoa and Yeat, a good majority of the tracks are slow-paced, delving into the quiet struggles of a traumatized teen. Labrinth makes several appearances.

One of his most notable contributions is a soulful and spiritual “I’m Tired,” featuring star of the series Zendaya. More of a plea for help at the behest of an excruciating downfall, without trying, Zendaya’s ethereal voice trails over the last bit of the track, ripping the last bit of stoicism left in the strongest of humankind. It’s truly a goosebump moment on the album.

Lana Del Rey doesn’t disappoint with her subtle, misty-eyed “Watercolor Eyes.” The track is followed by an equally haunting song by James Blake and Labrinth called “Pick Me Up,” which depending on perspective could be a continuation down the rabbit hole of despair or a bonding of spirits going through the same life experiences.

Tove Lo offers up a faster pace contribution with “How Long,” a pop dance record that runs in the vein of The Weeknd and Dua Lipa. On “Elliot’s Song,” Zendaya returns to duet with Dominic Fike. The understated love song is more than fulfilling as the duo sings over guitar instrumental.

Currently on The MouthSoap Playlist is “I’m Tired,” “Watercolor Eyes,” “Elliot’s Song,” “sad4whattt,” and “U could tell.”

The Euphoria Season 2 Soundtrack is available on Apple Music.
