51st NAACP Image Awards will Broadcast On BET For First Time

One of the most prestigious award shows for recognizing excellence in the black community, the NAACP Image Awards, will be partnering with BET to televise the celebration for the very first time on the network.

The 51st NAACP Image Awards will be televised in Pasadena, California, just east of Hollywood. The awards ceremony recognizes contributions made by people of color in the fields of social justice, film, TV, music and literature.

“We are excited that two storied organizations, NAACP and BET, are partnering to cultivate innovative approaches to our work and to deliver a transformative experience that inspires and empowers the Black community,” said Karen Boykin-Towns, NAACP National Board of Directors Vice-Chairman. “This is a natural partnership and one which aligns with our strategic focus. We are confident that the NAACP Image Awards will continue to grow in both impact and legacy.”

The 2019 NAACP Image Awards aired live on TV One. Past award winners included the cast of black-ish, 50 Cents’ Power, Taraji P. Henson, Jesse Williams, Lynn Whitfield, Kerry Washington, Michael B. Jordan, Regina King, Steve Harvey, Jada Pinkett Smith, Ryan Coogler, Jay-Z, Ella Mai, and Bruno Mars, to name a few.

The NAACP will be accepting submissions for nominees until Dec. 6. Nominations will be announced on Jan. 9, 2020.

The NAACP Image Awards will broadcast live Feb. 22, 2020 on BET.
